Ten years into a career built on emotional candour and keeping it real with her fans, Alessia Cara returns with Love Or Lack Thereof, a jazz- and soul-inflected reimagining of songs drawn from across her catalogue. Recorded live in studio with a cohort of jazz musicians, LOLT strips her songwriting back to its emotional architecture, while collaborations with Norah Jones and Nelly Furtado deepen the album’s warm, late-night atmosphere. Rather than simply revisiting old material, the album shines Cara’s discography through the prism of love, revealing both her personal and artistic longings in soulful rhythms.
